Known as "reborns", some of the dolls have beating hearts, others have tiny veins and even milk spots. Loved like real babies, they're taken for walks, cuddled and even have their nappies changed.

Doll designer Jaime - a mother of four - now fulfils the dreams of other women by engineering babies to their specifications in her front room. Adoptive "mums" include women with grown-up children, grandmothers living away from their grandchildren, and women who have left it too late to have their own babies.

It was interesting... but it ended up giving me nightmares. All those fake babies.

002. First Cut: Time Warp Wives (2008)
23 min
Creator: Sally Hewitt

The lives of four women who have rejected the trappings of modern life in favour of something a bit more old school.

And we're not just talking about clothing and decor - these women have vintage values to match. Having rejected the independence that comes with being a modern working woman, Joanne, Debbie, Diane and Sammi are desperate to be old-fashioned housewives.

The four women have found men who share their vintage obsession, and have turned their homes into vintage shrines, wilfully ignoring most aspects of modern life.

This was just really weird. These women living in the past. it would be a hard thing to do.

003. Young at Heart (2007)
107 min
Creator: Stephen Walker

Documents the true story of the final weeks of rehearsal for the Young at Heart Chorus in Northampton, MA, whose average age is 81, and many of whom must overcome health adversities to participate. Their music is unexpected, going against the stereotype of their age group, performing songs, for example, by James Brown, and Sonic Youth. Although they have toured Europe and sang for royalty, this account focuses on preparing new songs, not an easy endeavor, for a concert in their home town, which succeeds in spite of several real heart breaking events.

This was a great show. I really enjoyed the Young at Heart singers. Made me laugh and cry. Everyone should see!

004. Trembling Before G-d (2001)
84 min
Creator: Sandi Simcha Dubowski

Built around intimately-told personal stories of Hasidic and Orthodox Jews who are gay or lesbian, the film portrays a group of people who face a profound dilemma - how to reconcile their passionate love of Judaism and the Divine with the drastic Biblical prohibitions that forbids homosexuality.

Struggle between doing right by your God, and the laws of the church, and what you feel and who you are is very interesting. I was just fascinated by this show.

005. Ask Not (2008)
73 min
Director/Writers: Johnny Symons
http://www.sf360.org/features/sfiff51-johnny-symons-and-ask-not

A film that reveals the personal stories of Americans willing to risk their lives for a country that criminalizes the act of coming out. Current and veteran gay soldiers reveal how "don't ask don't tell" affects them during their tours of duty, as they struggle to maintain a double life. The film also follows gay veterans and young organizers turning to forms of personal activism to overturn the policy

So much information about gays in the military that I never knew. 13% of the military wouldn't be bothered about gays in the military when Don't Ask Don't Tell was put into effect in 1993. Today that number has gone up to 70%. I hope that ALL those who would like to enlist will some day soon be able to.

Books I Have Read

50 Read/Re-Read or "listen to" 200 Books, including 40 Non-Fiction Books, 35 books from the Modern Library's 100 Best list, and 25 books from the Forbidden Library

008: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
by: JK Rowling
752 pages, 20 hours and 35 min audiobook

009: Doctor Who: The Resurrection Casket
by: Justin Richards
256 pages, 2 hours 25 min audiobook

010: Doctor Who: The Nightmare of Black Island
by: Mike Tucker
256 pages, 2 hours 17 min audiobook

Movies I Have Watched (21-30)

53. Watch/Re-Watch 500 Movies

021: Jumper (2008)
91 min, with Hayden Christensen, Jamie Bell, Rachel Bilson, Diane Lane, and Samuel L. I feel like I've done pretty well so far. Some things I need to work a little more on, others i need to slow down. *shrugs* but at least i'm working on it all.

This is everything i'm currently working on. I really should probably start more projects.

~*~

12 Walk Lillee 4 times a week day for a total of 572 days

This is one of the area's where I should be a little further ahead than I am I need to get more into a habit of walking lils. I only have walked her 5 times in the last 2 weeks. I'm not worried about making the tally, but it's something I do need to work on.

14 Identify 100 things that make me happy

I've identified one thing so far that makes me happy. Lillee. My puppy. She makes me very happy.

22 Create a recipe book of my favorite things to eat

I've started making a list of my favorite things. I've got about 5 things so far. I need to write the recipe's out so that when it comes time to actually put the book together it won't be too hard. I've also thought of the idea of taking pictures of these foods after they have been cooked, since the things on the list have been made in the past 2 weeks, or will be made soon.

34 Send 101 cards/postcards

I've sent out 6 cards so far. That was easy cause I sent out thank you cards for my christmas gifts using one of my christmas gifts. I got some cute cards and envelopes from mom. This is one gift that will come in handy.

36 Update Live Journal and Blog at least once a week

This is much harder than I thought it would be. Especially my LJ. I don't know why. But i've done it, while currently working on 37 Participate in 12 NaBloPoMo.

38 Write 101 comments on other people’s blogs/livejournals

another one that i thought would be easy to do, but really isn't. I've commented on 6 blogs and done have a few comments in LJ that i need to record.

39 E-Mail friends at least once a week

Have emailed friends 2 times. well, only RQ... so that counts. cause they are friends.

48 Learn one new word a week and use it

another hard one... cause i never think of it. But i'm working on it. I've learned 2 words. But i've also done a lot of the vocabulary on Free Rice and have learned some things there.

50 Read/Re-Read or "listen to" 200 Books, including 40 Non-Fiction Books, 35 books from the Modern Library's 100 Best list, and 25 books from the Forbidden Library

I've read 3 books so far. I've also upped my number on this one. Because some of the books I'll be reading are actually audiobooks and they are much faster than reading a book, cause i can do other things while I'm "reading", i can get in at least 1 book a week.

51 Go 24 hours without TV (either on the actual TV, or on the computer) once a week

I've done this 2 times so far, and actually did it 2 days in a row. This is something i don't mind doing at all.

52 Get Netflix list down to under 100 movies/tv shows twice.

I've been able to get my list down by 40 dvd's just by going thru it and deleting one's that i've already seen, or purchased. I didn't realize that I had that many on my list that I could delete. I've still got at least over 200 movies on my list, but i can get that done, seeing as a lot are television shows.

53 Watch/Re-Watch 500 Movies

This one i've also had to raise the numbers on. In the last 2 weeks I've watched 25 movies. Dad and I like to watch movies and have many movie marathon's on the weekend. It's not uncommon for us to watch 6 movies on a Saturday or Sunday. So yeah... Raised the numbers to make it a little more difficult to get to.

55 Pick 30 TV shows/Mini-Series I like and re-watch every episode

I've raised this number also cause i realized that there are more mini-series that I would love to watch, and since they don't count on my movie list, i wanted them to work towards something. I've watched 2 mini-series so far.

57 Take a picture of myself twice a month for the time period

I've taken 1 picture of myself so far. This one is really hard cause I don't like taking pictures of myself, so unlike my sister.

58 Listen to 100 songs/pieces of music by a singer/band/composer I've never heard before.

This one has been fun. I've downloaded some new free mp3's from amazon.com. I've so far only listened to 1 song. but there are a few more that will be interesting.

71 Donate 1,000,000 grains of rice (22,400/1,000,000)

This one has been fun. I've even figured out how many grains of rice feeds 1 person.

72 Visit clicktogive (at bottom of blog) at least once a week

I've pressed the buttons 3 times so far. A diskette of Osbourne's musings falls out of a gym bag at a Georgetown fitness center. Two employees there try to turn it into cash: Linda, who wants money for elective surgery, and Chad, an amiable goof. They try to sell the disc back to Osbourne, who has a short fuse, then they visit the Russian embassy. To sweeten the pot, they decide they need more of Osbourne's secrets. Clyde and Kirby Heybourne

This is the first movie on my list. I haven't seen this movie in ages. It is a movie about LDS missionaries in Holland. It is a view of two different sets of missionaries and some of the things that can go on during a mission. Loss of faith, loss of family, loss of love, and the cute little "greenie" that helps you remember your faith.

002: Empire Records: Special Fan Edition (1995)
107 min, with Anthony LaPaglia and Rory Cochrane

Can I just say that this is one of the best movies ever made. How could you not love a movie about Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. A funny movie about the day in the life of a music store, and the employees that run the place. The people are crazy and the soundtrack is made of awesome. Everyone should see this movie at least once in their lives.

003: Mama Mia! (2008)
108 min: with Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Julie Walters

Based on the Broadway Musical by the same name. The story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father told using hit songs by the popular '70s group ABBA. I liked this movie. It was fun to sing along with the songs and watch the story unfold. Funny and fun!

004: H.M.S. Pinafore (2005)
Opera Australia

I have never seen H.M.S. Pinafore before. I've been a fan of Pirates of Penzance since i was young, but never saw this one. Listening to the music however I have heard much of it before. It was okay. Not one of my favorite. I enjoyed the songs that were familiar, and the story was okay. Maybe if I watched it in movie format and not a theatrical showing like I saw it I would enjoy it more.

005: Iron Man (2008)
126 min: with Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow

I'm a big fan of comic book movies. I didn't really read comic books when I was young, however i was a HUGE batman fan. Now that I am older I enjoy the artistry of it, and the movies they have made from the many different comic book heros have been fun to watch. This one was surprising to me. I really wasn't sure how I would like Robert Downey Jr. as a hero like this. But it was great. I enjoyed it. It made me laugh and the story was cute. Yes, yes... this one was very enjoyable.

006: The Best Two Years (2003)
112 min, with K.C. Clyde and Kirby Heybourne

Yes... I watched it again. LOL. My Mother has never seen it before, and Ian has watched it daily for the last week and has decided that he wants to learn how to speak dutch. So, Mom needed to see it, to find out what Ian was talking about. Love it!

007: Under the Tuscan Sun (2003)
113 min, with Diane Lane

This is one of the staples in our house. This is one that we watch often and might be on this list a few times over the next couple of years. This great story of a woman who decides to buy a Tuscan Villa on a whim. The story of her living in this large house that needs to be repaired, the friends, and family, that she makes, and the lesson that you will always find love somewhere.

008: Evita (1996)
135 min, with Madonna, Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce

Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber. Two of my favorite things. And surprising enough, Madonna wasn't that bad.

009: Waterworld (1995)
136 min, with Kevin Costner, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Dennis Hopper

Not one of my favorite movies, but dad seems to enjoy it. And why it always seems to be on I'll never know. I do have to admit tho. Some of my Dennis Hopper quotes are from this movie.

"Well, I'll be damned. It's the gentleman guppy. You know, he's like a turd that won't flush."
or, or, or...
"You know, I thought you were stupid, friend. This is the story of "E" Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division (paratroopers) from their initial training starting in 1942 to the end of World War II. They parachuted behind enemy lines in the early hours of D-Day in support of the landings at Utah beach, participated in the liberation of Carentan and again parachuted into action during Operation Market Garden. They also liberated a concentration camp and were the first to enter Hitler's mountain retreat in Berchtesgarten. A fascinating tale of comradeship that is, in the end, a tale of ordinary men who did extraordinary things. It is beautifully done and so great to watch. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

The Key:
Not Started
In Progress
<s>Accomplished</s> (with the date)
Not Accomplished

~*~*~*~

The List:
1 Lose 30lbs (1/30)
2 Maintain new weight for 6 months (0/6)
3 Create and maintain beauty routine for skin, hair, teeth etc. for 6 months (0/6)
4 Have a Spa day just for me
5 Get a pedicure at least 5 times (0/5)
6 Be in bed before midnight every week-day for a year (0/260)
7 Get up at 8.30am every day for a 6 months (0/6)

8 Exercise 3hrs a week for 6 months (0/72 hrs)
9 Do Yoga 3 times a week for 6 months (0/72)
10 Get a bike and ride it for 3 hours ever week for a month (0/12)
11 Complete the couch to 5K Running Plan
12 Walk Lillee about 4 times a week day for a total of 500 days (25/500)

13 Be more self confident
14 Identify 100 things that make me happy (1/100)
15 Identify 25 things I like about myself (0/25)
16 List one thing I am grateful for, every day for a year (44/365)
17 Learn more about my spiritual path
18 Meditate 30 min daily for 90 days (0/90)
19 Do something to celebrate each of the Sabbats over the course of the 1001 Days (3/22)

20 No candy or excess of sugar for 3 months (0/3)
21 Cook/Bake 100 things I've never tried making before (2/100)
22 Create a recipe book of my favorite things

23 Do laundry at least once a week for a year (26/52)
24 Put laundry away immediately for a year (0/52)
25 Make bed every day for 90 days (0/90)
26 Do dishes every day for 101 days (0/101)
27 Plant and maintain a herb garden – use the herbs in cooking and healing teas

28 Have $2000 in my savings account by the end of the 1001 Days
29 Pay off past medical bills and keep up with new ones coming in
30 Buy nothing outside of usual items for 3 months (0/3)

31 Write 100,000 words of fiction (0/100,000)
32 Do writing exercises 2-3 times a week (0/286)
33 Write a love letter (to someone else or myself)
34 Send 101 cards/postcards (24/101)
<s>35 Participate in 20 postcrossings (29/20)</s> (23.04.09 - still doing this.
